The lack of authentic Mexican food in Adelaide, sparked the idea of bringing our life altering experiences back home to be shared with our home city. With this our culinary journey began as ...

We explored different regions of Mexico all of which hosted their own traditional twist, infusion and style.

We found ourselves going to great lengths to discover the best food each region had to offer. One such adventure led us to hitch hiking in the back of a truck in the search of the family home of world renowned chef Gorge Leon in the outskirts of Oaxaca, where we indulged in life changing home style Mexican food.

STORY

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN ...

Our curiosity for authentic Mexican street food was ignited in 2017 during our first adventure through beautiful Latin America. The experience was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream as we spent 6 months immersed in the richness of Central and South America.

The first stop was the vibrant Mexico City. Our first hosts were a long-term pen pal and her Mexican partner, both of whom were avid food fanatics. It’s when we first hear the claim that “Mexico has the world’s best street food”. It didn’t take much convincing and soon this was our opinion too.

The intense flavours, vibrant colours and the passion contained within traditional Mexican cuisine was irresistible.

 

 

 

 

 

 

So much so that we returned the following two years to delve deeper into the art of Mexican street food.

From the countless tacos that danced across our taste buds, the one that stood above the rest was the ‘Al Pastor’. The Al Pastor is a taco made with vertical spit grilled pork marinated in Mexico’s favourite herbs and spices. The concept was influenced by Lebanese migrants who arrived in Mexico City in the early 1900s.

 

 

 

 

and aims to challenge preconceptions about tacos in this fine city. We are so excited to combine our experience and our passion to introduce Adelaide’s first ever spit roasted taco as well as give Adelaideans their first taste of the vibrancy and enthusiasm that comes with traditional Mexican food culture.

We found ourselves drawn to it, eager to learn more, taste more, experience more.

... we smelt, sampled and savoured as many varied tacos as our stomachs would allow.

Senor Taco has now arrived to revolutionise Mexican food!!
